Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano is continuing the “tradition” of Congresses past of giving an additional P50 million to each lawmaker, after his plan of selective disbursement led to rumblings within the House of Representatives.
A source told Politiko that lawmakers have been advised to submit the list of infrastructure projects worth P50 million in their district.
The list of projects should have been submitted to the office of Appropriations Committee chairman and Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab by Monday, December 2.
Politiko earlier reported that lawmakers were dismayed after Cayetano decided that only the 22 Deputy Speakers he picked will get an additional P150 million each.
A source told Politiko that each lawmaker has been entitled to P50 million under the House of Representatives’ P50-billion “leadership budget.” The Senate has a similar fund worth P20 billion.
In previous Congresses, the P50 million was given to lawmakers on top of the P100 million each of them received for their pet projects.
