The government is still not keen on opening hair salons and barbershops in general community quarantine areas (GCQ).
Citing reports, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that coronavirus can quickly spread in said establishments.
“Hayaan na muna natin mag desisyon ang IATF. Marami namang usapin na dapat nga payagan pero sa ngayon ang umiiral na opinyon ay wag muna po,” Roque said during the Laging Handa public briefing aired on state-run PTV-4 Monday.
“Dahil marami po talagang reports, at ito ay nakabase sa siyensa, na napakalakas po kumalat ng COVID sa mga barberya at mga salon,” he added.
The Department of Health reported on Sunday 14,035 cases of coronavirus in the Philippines, with 3,249 recoveries and 868 fatalities.
