Time for Pinoy athletes to shine! Robredo elated by PH’s lead in 2019 SEA Games medal tally
Vice President Leni Robredo is proud that the Philippines continues to lead in the medal tally of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games being held in the country.
In an interview in Naga City Sunday (December 8), Robredo said Filipino athletes are having a chance to shine in the SEA Games.
“Pagpapakita ito na kapag nabigyan ng maayos na pagkakataon, sapat na training, sapat na suporta, mas maraming opportunities iyong ating mga kababayan, talagang iyong pag—iyong chance na makapag-compete with the best hindi lang sa Southeast Asia, pero the best in the world, kaya,” she said.
As of Sunday evening, the Philippines leads the 2019 SEA Games medal tally with 283 medals, followed by Indonesia with 205 and Vietnam with 201.
Robredo thanked the athletes and their coaches for their hard work in bringing glory to the country. She said the whole country is behind them in the remaining four days of the SEA Games.
“Ang pagpaabot natin ng ating dasal, ang pagpaabot natin ng ating good luck sa kanila, at pagpaabot na din ng congratulations,”” the Vice President said.
