Tindi ng galit! Recto slams DOTr TWG for halting motorcycle taxi study over court cases
Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto believes the technical working group (TWG) created by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) was motivated by the need to exact vengeance in abruptly ending the study on motorcycle taxis.
Recto slammed the TWG during the Senate committee on public services’ hearing on motorcycle taxis Monday (January 20) for terminating the study, which was supposed to run until March 2020.
The TWG’s head, Antonio Gardiola Jr., said the termination of the study means motorcycle taxis will be considered illegal starting next week.
“May dokumento ngayon kayo ngayon na nagsasabi itigil na namin ito (pilot study), at ‘pag binasa ko ‘yung dokumento parang napakatindi ng galit ninyo,” Recto said.
A Mandaluyong court earlier issued a temporary restraining order stopping for 72 hours the 10,000-rider cap for each of the motorcycle taxi companies taking part in the pilot run: Angkas, JoyRide and Move It.
Recto said the TWG’s recommendation to end the pilot study showed not just its grudge against a motorcycle taxi firm, but the lack of public consultation.
“Maliwanag sa dokumentong ito eh, puro galit din e. Dahil nag-rally laban sa inyo, galit na kaagad kayo. Kulang kayo sa public consultation eh, ‘yan ang problema ninyo,” he said.
