Businessman Antonio Tiu criticized Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for making light of kidnapping incidents targeting Chinese-Filipinos like him.
Tiu said he would have “quietly suffered the insults” from Cayetano in the Senate hearings if not for the Taguig lawmaker’s insistence that he open his bank accounts. He fears this would place him at serious risk of getting kidnapped.
Tiu turned the tables on Cayetano, asking how the senator would feel if he and his family were made the subjects of a kidnapping joke.
Tiu is standing by his testimony that he is the true owner of Sunchamp Agri-Tourism Park, which took over the sprawling farm in Rosario, Batangas last year, and not Binay.
“I went to Senate inquiry as a resource person. But to my total dismay, I was accused of being a dummy, a money launderer, a tax evader and a dishonest businessman,” Tiu said.
Tiu said Cayetano and Senators Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Antonio Trillanes IV are acting as “complainant, prosecutor and judge” in the ongoing Senate Blue Ribbon probe on Vice President Jejomar Binay.
“I’m standing by the truth that I’m a buyer of the Rosario property in good faith,” Tiu said.
Tiu said he has met Binay only a few times. “I swear to God I only met the Vice President three timesin my life. If somebody can produce another proof that I’ve met him more than three times, I’m willing to accept any consequences,” Tiu had said in a previous interview with ANC previously.
“I met him when I brought the Chinese investors who wanted to partner with me. I asked permission to to see the President but he’s not available. So I brought them to the Vice President, that was the first. Second time I met him was in the VP Binay Golf Tournament . Third time I saw him in the farm with Dra. Binay. I haven’t bought the farm yet then,” said Tiu.
