President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to postpone his much-anticipated announcement on his candidate in the hotly-contested Speakership race next week.

One Palace insider disclosed that President Duterte will announce his “chosen one” 72 hours before his constitutionally-mandate address to the nation.
The same source confirmed that Duterte is now torn between two aspirants for the House leadership, namely reelected Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco and Leyte Congressman-elect Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Duterte during the dinner co-hosted by Velasco and and his eldest son, incoming Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte for neophyte solons told those who attended the event that the Speakership battle is now down between Velasco and Romualdez only.
The event was graced by a significant number of incoming lawmakers ranging from between 120 to 150.
