Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is baffled by the government’s preference for Chinese-made vaccines despite its poor efficacy rate.
Trillanes said vaccines developed by Chia’s Sinovac Biotech Ltd. was found to be least effective compared to other drugs. The Sinovac vaccine is also reportedly the second most expensive vaccine among the available brands.
He lashed out at the government for denying the Filipinos of the safest and most cost-efficient vaccine available in the market.
“Sinovac is by far the LEAST effective and the 2nd MOST expensive. How can duterte justify buying it? Pati ba naman vaccine para sa kaligtasan ng mga Pinoy, pagkakakitaan nyo pa!
Trillanes used the hashtag #duterteKURAKOT in his latest criticism about the government’s acquisition of the vaccine.
Sinovac reportedly costs P3,629.50 for two doses per person. The vaccine supposedly had an efficacy rate of 78 percent.
The government has ordered 25 million vaccine doses from Sinovac, that will arrive in the country starting February.
