Senator Antonio Trillanes IV wants businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan to appear at the Senate to shed light on how he was able to acquire his businesses.
““It’s high time that we check on Pangilinan, where did he and his money come from and how was he able to get money he used in investing in numerous businesses,” Trillanes said in an interview over dzBB Sunday.
Among the companies that Pangilinan owns include Maynilad Water Services Inc., Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., Smart Communications and broadcast network TV5.
The senator, however, clarified that there’s no personal motive behind his curiosity regarding Pangilinan’s ownership of several companies.
“He (Pangilinan) is making money and ordinary people are his milking cows and I consider that as unfair business practice,” Trillanes said.
Pangilinan was previously rumored as a running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
