Former Senator Antonio Trillanes is wondering why Speaker Alan Cayetano has suddenly shut his mouth after getting the heat on ABS-CBN Corp.’s closure.
“Si Alan Cayetano, isang taong kayang magsalita at mambola maghapon, ay ilang araw nang tikom ang bibig ukol sa pag-upo ng Kongreso sa mga franchise bills para sa ABS-CBN,” said Trillanes on Twitter.

Cayetano’s most recent public statement on ABS-CBN was on May 1 when he reassured the public that the House has “no intention” to order the closure of ABS-CBN.
On May 5, the National Telecommunications Commission issued a cease and desist order which forced ABS-CBN to go off air a day after its franchise expired.
Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman has accused Cayetano of playing a “charade” on the public with his guarantee on keeping ABS-CBN on air. Buhay Rep. Lito Aitenza blamed Cayetano for blocking the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN at the committee level since he took over in 2018.
But for Trillanes, the main person behind ABS-CBN’s closure is President Rodrigo Duterte himself.
