US President Donald Trump hit his predecessor former Barack Obama, saying that Crimea was “taken” during the latter’s term.
Crimea, a peninsula in southern Ukraine, was annexed by Russia in 2014.
Trump tweeted, “Crimea was TAKEN by Russia during the Obama Administration. Was Obama too soft on Russia?”
He also made several tweets on Wednesday (February 15) on the contacts that his campaign aides allegedly had with Russian intelligence officials.
The New York Times earlier reported that “in the year before the election,” Trump campaign aides and other associates had “repeated contacts” with the intelligence officials.
“This Russian connection non-sense is merely an attempt to cover-up the many mistakes made in Hillary Clinton’s losing campaign,” Trump tweeted.
In addition, he accused the intelligence community of “illegally” giving information to the media.
