United States President Donald Trump had so much fun talking over the phone to President Rodrigo Duterte Saturday that he expressed his excitement in seeing him soon.
In a statement by the White House, US Press Secretary Sean Spicer said: “President. Trump enjoyed the conversation and said that is looking forward to visiting the Philippines in November to participate in the East Asia Summit and the US-ASEAN Summit. President Trump also invited President Duterte to the White House to discuss the importance of the United States-Philippines alliance which is now heading in a very positive direction.”
Spicer said Trump and Duterte the concerns of ASEAN on North Korea’s missile threat.
He said they also touched on Duterte’s criticized brutal war on drugs which Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, criticized.
“They discussed the fact that the Philippine government is fighting very hard to rid its country of drugs, a scourge that affects many countries throughout the world,” Spicer said.
