Try again after 2 weeks: NBI clearance processing suspended in MECQ areas
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Officer-In-Charge Eric Distor has decided to limit the bureau’s services to the public in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Distor announced on Tuesday (Aug. 4) that the NBI has suspended clearance processing until Aug. 18 in areas under MECQ including Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite and Laguna.
With this, Distor advised the public of “the cancellation of all clearance transactions during the quarantine period.”
“All Clearance processing and Satellite Offices in the aforementioned areas will be closed for the duration of the quarantine period or MECQ,” Distor said in a statement.
“The NBI supports the action of the national government to put certain areas under MECQ to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and at the same time heed the overwhelming clamor of frontliners for a ‘timeout’,” he pointed out.
On Sunday night (Aug. 2), President Rodrigo Duterte announced the have Metro Manila and the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan placed under MECQ again.
Duterte heeded the call of frontliners who sought to impose stricter quarantine measures due to rising number of COVID-19 disease cases.
