Cavite 8th district Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino has denied that he already bolted the ruling party, PDP Laban and joined that Naitonal Unity Party (NUP).
Tolentino made the statement after his named appeared in the list of congressmen who allegedly parted ways with the political entity of President Rodrigo Duterte and after he was seen during the oath taking of new NUP members last Tuesday in Quezon City.
Tolentino on Wednesday evening attended the thanksgiving dinner hosted by ruling in honor of the recent victory of Sen. Manny Pacquiao after his welterweight championship boxing showdown with American Keith Thurman last month.
“That’s why I’m here (in Sen. Pacquiao’s party). I’m still PDP,” said Tolentino.
Tolentino, the newly elected president of the Philippine Olympic Committee stressed that he was wondering why NUP deputy secretary-general Brian Yamsuan included his name in the official list of their party roster on Tuesday.
“Kaya ko rin gumawa nun (listahan). Ilalagay ko pa (yung) pangalan niyo,” Tolentino told members of the House media in jest.
The former Tagaytay City mayor said his loyalty remained solid behind President Duterte’s party and is still the chairman of PDP’s Cavite council.
PDP Laban President Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel said only a dozen PDP members have transferred to NUP contrary to the earlier reported 15.
