The United Kingdom (UK) plans to hand over a letter next week to European Union (EU) President Donald Tusk that would trigger the process of its exit from the said association.
Last year, the UK decided to leave the EU through a referendum.
“Earlier on this morning the UK’s permanent representative in the EU informed the office of Donald Tusk, that it’s the UK’s intention to trigger Article 50 on March 29,” The Independent, in an article published online on March 20, reported a Downing Street spokesman as saying.
Downing Street refers to the British government or prime minister.
According to a The Telegraph article published online on March 20, Article 50 contains the rules for leaving the EU.
