Usap tayo! Duterte invites soldiers for coffee
President Rodrigo Duterte has invited soldiers to have coffee with him to talk about any problems they may have.
In a speech at the Philippine Army’s 121st founding anniversary Tuesday (March 20), Duterte said he wants to get to know soldiers better.
“I’d like to have the rapport personally with each and everyone of you. If you do not have the number sa office ko, get it from somebody who knows, marami diyan,” he said.
“And if you have a problem na hindi mo ma — medyo mahirapan ka at medyo naman konting mahirap rin sa command mo, call me and I’ll give you time and we’ll have coffee and talk about…,” he added.
Duterte said the government has been exerting efforts to make soldiers’ life more comfortable, citing the increase in their pay and allocating funds for the upgrade of facilities in military hospitals.
“So I think that this time, we have done enough in government to make your life comfortable,” he said.
