Velasco eyes in-depth probe over PCSO corruption scandal

MANILA – Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco urged the House leadership to look into the alleged massive corruption over the number games sanctioned by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Velasco’s statement came after President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday temporary halted all games under PCSO including Lotto, Small Town Lottery (STL), Peryahan ng Bayan, and Keno due to an alleged grand conspiracy among the major players and enforcers to cheat the government of its rightful shares.
“I believe his action should prompt a more in-depth investigation into the gaming schemes not only to ensure that it is free from corruption, but to also assess its impact on the economy and the programs being funded by the PCSO,” said Velasco.
Velasco said less income for PCSO would deprive the masses of receiving basic services from the agency especially medical assistance.
Velasco said Duterte was “consistent in his strong stance against corruption.”
