Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco on Tuesday expressed optimism that he would get his turn as leader of the House under the 15-21 deal he struck with Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
“As the President said, there is a time for everything. I believe my time will come but for
now it’s time to buckle down to work,” he said in a statement.
“Let’s hit the ground running!” Velasco said.
The PDP-Laban bet for Speaker on Monday said he was not bothered by Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte’s comment that there must be new election for Speaker in 15 months.
“Because under the rules of the House, there’s no automatic succession. Yes, it’s a given when there’s a new Speaker, there has to be an election,” he said.
“At the end of the day, we really don’t know what will happen in 15 months. Of course, I leave it up to my colleagues,” Velasco said.
