Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno is keeping his political plans close to his chest for now after city mayor Joseph Estrada announced his plan to run for reelection in 2016.
Speaking to dzBB on Thursday, Moreno said he respects Estrada’s decision to run for reelection.
“We’re really trying to do our best at naisip niya puwede rin tayo sa ibabaw,” he said. “We can always agree on something pero ang importante ano ang iniisip namin, ako ba, si Erap ba o ang mga taga-Maynila?”
Estrada earlier promised to back Moreno’s candidacy for mayor in 2016, saying he will bow out of politics after serving one term as Manila mayor. However, the former president has changed his view and decided to run for reelection after the Supreme Court upheld his eligibility to run for public office.
With the mayor setting his sights on retaining his current post, Moreno said he is thinking his political plans through.
“Ang intensyon natin [kaugnay ng 2016 elections], sasabihin natin sa tamang panahon,” he said. “Everything is possible, liquid ‘yung political atmosphere sa bansa.”
