Wala kami dyan! Aguirre says drug matrix didn’t come from DOJ

President Rodrigo Duterte’s shocking drug matrix involving top officials like Senator Leila de Lima wasn’t sourced from the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Thus, said Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre during his agency’s budget hearing Wednesday night (August 31) before the House Appropriations Committee.

“The [drug] matrix as revealed by the President did not come from us. We have our own investigation. We have our facts,” Aguirre said as he was quizzed by the solons about the matrix.

The matrix detailed the role of officials in the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). Aside from De Lima, the matrix included Pangasinan Rep. Amado Espino, former Justice Undersecretary Francisco Baraan III, Pangasinan Administrator Raffy Baraan, General Franklin Bucayo and Pangasinan Board Member Raul Sison.

Aguirre, however, said the DOJ could “corroborate” Duterte’s information based on their own probe.

The DOJ’s proposed budget for 2017 is P15 billion.
