Brownouts to hit parts of Bulacan, Rizal, Iloilo
Several areas in the provinces of Bulacan, Rizal, and Iloilo will experience power interruptions on Friday and Saturday due to scheduled maintenance work on some power facilities.
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) in a tweet said portions of New Delhi, from Jerusalem to East Gate Avenue, in East Gate Executive Village in San Juan, Taytay, Rizal will have power interruption between 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on March 15, Friday.
This is due to the scheduled “relocation of pole and line reconductoring works along Jerusalem Street in said village.
Relatively, parts of Guiguinto, Bulacan will be without electricity between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. the following day because Meralco personnel will be doing some repairs in facilities in Barangay Tabe.
The affected areas include parts of “Mercado Street from near Gold Touch Foods Corp. to and including Villa Roma II Subdivision and Innova Homes Subdivision; and Hiyas Water Resources Inc.”
Meanwhile, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), in an announcement over its Facebook page, said maintenance activities are also scheduled in parts of Iloilo on Saturday, March 16.
The affected area is being serviced by the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) 1 and the maintenance activities will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the Hamtic-Miag-ao-Tigbauan 69kV line.
“Specific affected areas are determined by the distribution utility,” it said.
Energy officials have earlier assured that while electricity demand during the summer months will be high, power supply is projected to remain sufficient to meet these needs.
They clarified that the power interruptions will not be due to
supplyissues, but rather because of maintenance work on their facilities.
“We have sufficient supply although it will be tight. DOE (Department of Energy) will be watching it to make sure that we don’t have any disruption,” Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said. (PNA)
