There was no truth to a report that the military prevented President Rodrigo Duterte from going to Sulu, Malacañang clarified Friday.

“The Palace wishes to reiterate that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s schedule for today, July 3, 2020, is in Zamboanga City,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a statement said.

Roque pointed out that Jolo, Sulu was not part of Duterte’s itinerary.

“There is hence no truth that AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) did not allow the President to go to Sulu,” according to him.

Earlier, Roque said Duterte will meet with military and police commanders in Mindanao following the killing of four soldiers by police in Jolo town Monday.

The President also wanted to talk to the cops involved in the shooting incident, he added.
