An ethics complaint may likely be filed against a neophyte solon at the opening the 18th Congress later this month after allegedly assaulting a restaurant waiter in Legazpi City last Sunday.
Twenty-year old waiter Christian Kent Alejo said Ang Probinsyano Party-list Rep. Alfred de los Santos punched him early morning of July 7 while inside Biggs Diner in Legazpi City.
Alejo said he was just fixing placemats in front of de los Santos’ table around 3:40 a.m. when the congressman told him he doesn’t like his manner and the approach being shown by the service crew.
“Nata maraoton ka makailing (Bakit ang sama mong makatingin),”de los Santos alleged words to Alejo based on his sworn statement.
Alejo said after a short confrontation, De los Santos suddenly threw his left fist towards his head but he managed to partially evade the punch. De los Santos’ fist apparently landed besides Alejo’s cap instead of hitting his face.
Alejo added that the congressman appeared to be under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened.
According to Alejo, several emissaries from De los Santos’ camp have already communicated with him seeking an amicable settlement which he refused.
Aside from charges of slight physical injuries, De los Santo may face an ethics complaint at the House Ethics Committee after the opening of the 18th Congress this coming July 22.
