Vice President Leni Robredo has urged Filipinos to avoid spreading vitriol online and offline amid the frustration felt by some sectors over the results of the 2019 midterm polls.

In a tweet posted Wednesday (May 15), Robredo said the period after the elections is the time when Filipinos need to reach out to others.

“Let us not resort to name-calling, demeaning our fellow Filipinos that—at this most crucial time—are the ones we need to reach out to and connect with all the more,” she said.

Robredo said kindness is important even if things do not go according to one’s wishes.

“Things may not be going our way, but a bigger battle calls on us to be strong and still be kind. Lalaban pa rin [Philippine flag emoji],” she said.

Some sectors have expressed dismay over the results of the senatorial race, which showed no opposition candidate landing in the “Magic 12” list of winners.

Robredo campaigned aggressively for the “Otso Diretso” senatorial slate but none of them have yet to break into the “Magic 12.”
