Duterte clears Castriciones in slow pace of land reform: Kasalanan ni Mariano!

President Rodrigo Duterte has blamed former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano for the sluggish land conversion in the country.
“Hindi kasalanan — bago lang ito si (Secretary John) Castriciones eh. ‘Yung si Mariano. Two years na, tapos may isang application sa awa ng Diyos, 25 years sa NEDA,” said Duterte in a speech in Albay on Friday.
The President said he walked out of a Cabinet meeting due to his dismay over the bureaucratic processes on the conversion of lands.
“So when they were presenting it, tumindig ako, sabi ko, ‘Look, I beg your indulgence. May I be allowed to go out of this Cabinet meeting?’ Sabi ko kay Medialdea, sila kahapon, kayo na lang magusap diyan. Because the way that you are presenting a graft-free rules and regulations, it ain’t nothing but crafted really, not by them, itong sabi kong gobyerno na wala itong katapusan,” according to him.
In his media briefing in Malacanang early today, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Castriciones continues to enjoy Duterte’s trust and confidence.
“Yes, I believed so. I believed DAR Secretary Castriciones still enjoys the trust and confidence of the President. In fact, the President said something to that effect,” Nograles added.
