Vice President Leni Robredo expressed gratitude to Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin Sunday (October 13) that the results of the poll protest filed by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. can’t be rigged.
Bersamin on October 10 said there’s no chance that the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), can manipulate the result of the protest.
“Don’t worry, hindi ko niluluto. Hindi puwede lutuin ‘yan,” he said.
Robredo said Bersamin’s assurance was a big deal considering that speculation has swirled over how the PET will decide on the electoral protest.
Robredo said she was hopeful that the PET will release its decision soon on the report by member-in-charge Associate Justice Benajmin Caguioa about the results of the initial recount of votes in the three pilot provinces identified by Marcos.
The results of the recount will determine if the PET will dismiss the electoral protest or proceed with the nationwide recount.
Robredo’s camp has asked the PET to provide her a copy of the report concerning the results of the recount of three pilot provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, and Camarines Sur.
