The Supreme Court has upheld the ouster of former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno by invalidating her appointment as head of the judiciary in 2012.

According to a source, the Supreme Court on Tuesday (June 19) voted 8-6 to junk the appeal Sereno filed over the ruling in the quo warranto case against her.

The Supreme Court voted on Sereno’s appeal the same way it did when majority of its magistrates agreeed to remove her from her post last month.

The source said the ruling is final.

Sereno was removed from her post over her failure to submit all of her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) when she applied for Chief Justice in 2012.

In her appeal, Sereno argued that the ruling in the quo warranto case should be null and void because the six magistrates who voted to remove her failed to show impartiality in the case.
