President Rodrigo Duterte has signed Proclamation No. 789, declaring August 12 a regular holiday to honor Eid’l Adha or the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice.

This was confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.

“The Office of the President hopes that with such declaration, our Muslim brothers and sisters can properly observe and enjoy the Feast of Sacrifice with their loved ones,” Panelo in a statement said.

The declaration was made upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

Eid’l Adha is one of Islam’s two major celebrations along with Eid’l Fitr, the end of Ramadan.
