As recommended by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Malacanang on Friday announced the suspension of classes and work in government offices in Metro Manila from 3 p.m. onwards because of the “continuing inclement weather.”

Executive Medialdea signed the memorandum on August 9, 2019.

“Those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” said Medialdea.

The order stated that the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.
