Walang resibo! Locsin: POGOS paying taxes ‘under the table’
Some enterprising government officials are lining their pockets with taxes paid by Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr. hinted Thursday (July 2).
Locsin tweeted that POGOs had to pay their taxes “under the table.”
“The tax-evading POGOs did pay out as you must suspect but under the table which puzzled them,” he said in response to a netizen’s tweet about the nuances of learning Chinese for work.
“Usually they line up in a revenue office and pay up but this was special: collector whose affiliation to any department was kept a mystery turned up himself like home pick up,” Locsin added.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue earlier revealed that around 60 licensed POGOs in the country owe the government P50 billion in taxes.
