Newly appointed Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) president and chief executive officer Dante Gierran is set to reshuffle all regional directors and other key officials of the state health insurer amid allegations of corruption, Politiko has learned.
A source privy to the looming overhaul told Politiko that Gierran will announce the nationwide revamp as long as the study for reassignment is completed.
“No one will be spared. All positions will be up for reassignment. Apart from disrupting the familiar relationship between PhilHealth employees and health care institutions and some doctors, investigators will have unhampered access of the office issued computers used by the employee,’’ the source said.
Officers assigned to the central office in Manila will also be affected by the revamp, the source added.
Ahead of the revamp, Politiko learned that all members of the Philhealth board of directors submitted their courtesy resignation to Gierran.
Reassignment has been a thorny issue in Philhealth, with some affected employees filing suits to stop being moved from their posts. Politiko’s source, however, said Gierran is determined to reshuffle key officials of the state-run health insurer.
“The long stints of Philhealth regional officers and key officials have become an opportunity for corruption as they become familiar with entities involved in public health,” the source said.
