Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday (Nov, 5) has named as the Task Force Against Corruption the inter-agency task force led by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to look into corrupt activities in government.
“We have noted that the media has been referring to the DOJ-led task force as the ‘mega task force’ and we really appreciate the importance that the media has given to this inter-agency group,” he said.
“However, we’ll be happy to be referred to simply as the TASK FORCE AGAINST CORRUPTION,” Guevarra stated.
The secretary explained the naming of the task force is intended for the sake of “simplicity.”
“We do not want a name that is full of bluster, as we intend to work quietly but effectively,” he said.
Guevarra named the task force after having received the Oct. 27 memorandum of President Rodrigo Duterte to have the DOJ lead a task force in conducting a government-wide corruption investigation.
