What’s in a name? Robredo clueless on her role as ‘nonexistent’ co-chair of anti-drugs body
Vice President Leni Robredo may have accepted her designation as drug czar by President Rodrigo Duterte, but she still doesn’t know what her job is.
Robredo on Saturday (November 9) admitted she’s still clueless about her responsibilities as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) since her position was allegedly “nonexistent.”
“Actually, wala pang scope. Iyong sinasabi kasi, hindi pa naman— Ako, maghihintay ako kung anong nakasaad sa nakasulat, para parati tayong may babalikan. Iyong pinakahuling nakasulat, co-chairman ako ng ICAD. Hindi ko alam kung ano iyong gustong sabihin because the position is non-existent,” she explained at the sidelines of an event in Quezon City.
Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesperson, earlier pointed out that the position of co-chairman was nonexistent in Executive Order No. 15, Series of 2017 which created the ICAD.
Robredo co-chairs the ICAD along with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino.
Despite the vagueness of her role, Robredo said she is determined to hit the ground running.
“Iyong sa akin, lahat na oras mahalaga, kasi parati kong inuulit, two and a half years na lang iyong natitira sa atin. If we want to be successful, kailangan talagang seryosohin,” she said.
