Who will shine: JBC to interview 6 aspirants for Tijam’s post
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is set to conduct a public interview this December of six candidates who are vying for Supreme Court (SC) which will be vacated by Justice Noel Tijam who will retire this January 5.
The JBC announced “a panel interview will be conducted on 5 December 2018.”
Those who will be interviewed are Court of Appeals (CA) Justices Ricardo Rosario, Ramon Cruz, Eduardo Peralta Jr., and Ramon Bato Jr.; and Sandiganbayan Justices Amparo Cabotaje-Tang and Efren De La Cruz.
They are among the 20 candidates who are vying for the seat which will be vacated by Tijam.
The 14 other candidates have valid previous interviews, namely, CA Justices Manuel Barrios, Rosemari Carandang, Stephen Cruz, Edgardo delos Santos, Japar Dimaampao, Ramon Garcia, Amy Lazaro-Javier, and Mario Lopez; Sandiganbayan Justice Alex Quiros; SC Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez; Tagum Regional Trial Court Judge Virginia Tehano-Ang; and lawyers Cesar Villanueva and Rita Linda Jimeno.
Tijam, who was appointed at the high court last on March 8, 2017, was the second appointee of President Rodrigo Duterte at the SC.
He is also fellow law graduate of Duterte at the San Beda College.
Prior his appointment, Tijam has been a magistrate of the Court of Appeals (CA).
