Who’s the next Ombudsman? JBC starts search for Morales’ successor
The search for the replacement of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has begun.
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) announced that it has started accepting applications for the successor of Morales whose term ends this July 26.
“Applications or recommendations (with conforme), together with two complete sets of the documentary requirements must all be received by the JBC not later than 4:30 p.m. of 2 May 2018,” read the announcement dated March 16.
Morales has already faced threats of being impeached for allegedly favoring Liberal Party (LP) members in the criminal complaints filed against them.
Morales was appointed as Ombudsman in July 2011 by then President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III who also previously served as LP chairman.
She has served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court (SC) since 2002.
Prior this, she has been trial court judge since 1983 and became Court Appeals (CA) justice in 1994.
