You’ll get bored with this teleserye: Ninoy Aquino statue relocation not an issue in family, Kris says

Two Aquino siblings may be poles apart on the new site of the statue of their father the late President Ninoy Aquino but such difference is not supposedly a big deal.

Actress Kris Aquino admitted that she still respects her brother former President Noynoy Aquino even as their relationship remains “a work in progress.”

“Speaking of my dad, to clarify HINDI po naging issue sa family where our his statue would be relocated,” she said in an Instagram post.

“So kung trip nyong gawing teleserye ang buhay pamilya namin, ma bo-bored lang kayo kasi walang matinding di pagkakaunawaan na nagaganap,” she added.

Kris admitted that she and Noynoy are not very close, adding the last time they met was more than four months ago.

“But really? Location ng statue ng dad namin ang gustong gamitin na issue to widen our gap? Trust me we’ve had more disagreements of substance than that. It’s just that we respect our mom’s memory so much that whatever differences we may have, we choose to keep them private in the hope that TIME will help heal & resolve all of them. #familyfirst ,” she said.

The Aquino statue has been removed at the corner of Timog and Quezon avenues after it was reportedly damaged in the government’s road-clearing operations. The former president wanted the statue to be relocated to the Parks and Wildlife while Kris prefers the area near a busy shopping district.

Kris explained that she wanted the status nearer the malls since it has busy foot traffic. He said many people especially the youth would see her father’s statue and trigger their curiosity about him and his contribution to the country’s democracy.

i was sent this pic of my dad by @chefjaclaudico… took a pic of bimb then showed him, “bimb, this is a preview of how you’ll look at 17 or 18 when the cute baby cheeks are gone…” goosebumps moment for me because bimb’s hairline, his nose, eyebrows, lips, the way his eyes shine when he smiles, and even the shape of his face are so much like his lolo Ninoy’s… Speaking of my dad, to clarify HINDI po naging issue sa family where our his statue would be relocated. Ate had messaged all of us after Mayor Joy Belmonte had communicated with her that MMDA had requested a change of venue. 2 options were given, Parks & Wildlife or the area near Trinoma/Vertis North where @iloveayalamalls is doing a lot of expansions. Hindi po issue na Noy chose DENR’s Parks & Wildlife and i wanted the mall development area… obvious naman na magkaiba talaga kami, and clear din na we practice freedom of choice in our family. My vote had gone to the area nearer malls because i had felt mas mataas ang “foot traffic” and more of our youth would see my dad’s likeness on a regular basis and maybe have some curiosity about Ninoy Aquino & his contribution to Philippine democracy as we know it today. Hindi ko rin kayo pa-plasticin at sasabihan na very close kami, we’re not- last time kaming nagkita was more than 4 months ago. But really? Location ng statue ng dad namin ang gustong gamitin na issue to widen our gap? Trust me we’ve had more disagreements of substance than that. It’s just that we respect our mom’s memory so much that whatever differences we may have, we choose to keep them private in the hope that TIME will help heal & resolve all of them. #familyfirst 💛
