Zamora on GMA’s ‘poor’ satisfaction rating: ‘It went up despite black prop’
San Juan Rep. Ronaldo Zamora on Wednesday defended House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s poor satisfaction rating in the latest Social Weather Stations survey, noting it still went up a few points despite the character assassination she had endured during the polling period.
“Her approval ratings still rose despite the virulent black propaganda that was hurled against her during the intramurals on the budget,” he said in a statement.
Zamora said Arroyo was the type of leader who focused on performance and not popularity.
“The style of Speaker GMA has always focused on getting results and work done rather than on the approval ratings,” he said.
He added: “The recent earthquake showed us the kind of leadership SGMA has as she is more focused on helping the victims, cutting short her participation in scheduled events to see for herself the rescue and rehab efforts following the earthquake.”
The SWS survey showed her rating remained “poor” though it climbed by 4 points from -21 in December to -17 in March.
The survey showed that 29 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied with her performance against 46 percent who were dissatisfied.
