Zubiri: Duterte has polyps, but…

While Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque says President Rodrigo Duterte wants to keep the status of his health confidential, it seems that the chief executive has no qualms telling senators that polyps have been found in his intestines.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri said Tuesday (October 9) that Duterte himself told senators during their emergency meeting in Malacañang yesterday night that he has polyps in his intestine, but this is not cancerous.
“Sabi ni President, may polyps daw siya, may growth sa intestines. Wala naman daw. It’s benign. It’s a polyp. It’s not cancer and he was in high spirits. He was very happy yesterday, cracking a lot of jokes,” Zubiri told Senate reporters in an interview.
“The President is as strong as an ox. We saw it yesterday, he was in good spirits. And sabi mismo ni [Special Assistant to the President Bong] Go that the cancer is negative. ‘Yan ang sabi sa amin,” he said.
Acting Interior Secretary Eduardo Año has said that Duterte told his Cabinet in a meeting last night that his medical tests came out negative.
Roque, however, refused to confirm or deny this during a Malacañang press briefing.
Speculation about Duterte’s health was reignited after he said last week that a “growth” has been detected and that doctors took samples for testing.
